Costa Rican bassoonist Rick Barrantes currently works as a Teaching Artist with the New Groove Music Studio and as a Bassoon and Chamber Music Teacher with the Community Music Scholars Program at Temple University, where he is pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts. He is the Principal Bassoon with the New Jersey Chamber Orchestra and previously appeared as a guest bassoonist with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Toronto Concert Orchestra, Niagara Symphony Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica.
